Veteran’s Day Blog Hop Winner

Sponsors & Giveaways

Thank you to everyone who dropped by for the first time during Operation Write Home’s Veteran’s Day Blog Hop. Seventeen of you entered our giveaway by leaving a comment about how you’re giving back. You ladies are so inspiring!

Shari: At work we have chosen a family in need and will put together a basket containing an entire Christmas feast. We want to share our good fortune with those who may have fallen on hard times. Also my children and I have decided to adopt an angel off the local angel tree and spend part of our Christmas money making his or her Christmas wishes come true.

Laura: I am making cards for Scrappers Give Thanks and will be doing a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child by Samaritan’s Purse.

Lisa: We always pick an ornament from the giving tree at our YMCA. Each one has a child’s wish for what they’d like for Christmas. We usually pick one close to each of our children’s ages. My 8-year-old daughter also saves money from her allowance all year and buys some gifts for Toys for Tots.

Dana: I’m doing the cards for OWH and am giving to our church’s angel tree.

Cyn: I’m a big digital fan and I love reading about your generosity! I send OWH four cards with every set I sell, all year round. This month, I’m giving sets of announcements to NICUs for parents of preemies. And in December, I’m supporting Teeny’s Friends, a dog charity in Austin, TX.

Deb: I am making cards for Operation Write Home, and I will also be purchasing gifts for a child from our local angel tree.

Rhonda: I will be making cards for OWH and possibly for the local Children’s Hospital for the kids who will be in there for Christmas.

Mary: Beautiful card! I actually have a few things going on. I help run a local food pantry, my family and I have adopted a child off an angel tree for Christmas & our church is putting on a free Thanksgiving dinner open to anyone in our community and I will be helping out with that by making food, decorating and serving food.

Marcy: I am a “semi-cardmaker” for OWH. Lately, I’ve been making only cards for them. Didn’t even make my husband’s birthday card today and he’s a Vet! Thanks for all you do and your work is amazing!

Carla: I will be charitable by making cards for OWH and teaching adults to read.

Kelly: Beautiful post today! In addition to making cards myself, I have my Girl Scout troop making them as well to send in with paper, ribbons, etc that I have from home and share with them. We also donate thru the Toys for Tots program for the Marines – coming from a military family and having a brother in the Army, I support in as many ways as I can as I am soooo grateful for all they do and for our freedom! Blessings!

Kristi: I am participating in Scrappers Give Thanks. During Thanksgiving my family will be donating a turkey to a local shelter as well as other food donations. I will also donate new toys to Toys for Tots.

Britiney: Today my husband and 3 boys and I raked leaves for two single moms. It was a blessing to them and to us. Monday I’m going to call the local foodbank and the local homeless shelter for women & children to find out how we can volunteer to help them. Thanks for asking!

Beth: We are getting together to make cards to send on Tues.

Loni: I’ll be making cards for OWH and Ronald McDonald House Charities in December plus stitching caps for preemies for StitchesfromtheHeart.org and working on some no-sew fleece blankets for ProjectLinus.org

Holly: I’ve really enjoyed supporting Operation Write Home by participating in the blog hop–looking forward to sending them a box of cards soon!

Monique: We always fill a couple grocery bags with non-parishables and make a donation to our local food bank. My DD always helps choose what we put in the bags and comes with us to make the donation, we like to teach her about sharing what you have and the joy of giving at Christmas so she sees it as more than a holiday of getting.
