Faster Scrapbooking with Smartphone Apps

Digital Photography Tips

At a recent training Jen Wright of Beach Monkeys had all the answers when it came to fun apps for smartphones and tablets. I asked her if she would share a few apps to help you save time scrapbooking. – Jennifer

Are you like me and take photos on your phone but then forget about them or have to email them to yourself to use them?

I want to thank Jennifer for the invitation to share how you can do most of your scrapbooking all from your smartphone or tablet with just a few great apps.

Instagram

I love this app. It’s a quick way to express a moment in time and share with friends on facebook and twitter. This has a camera with neat filters and frames while creating a square or 1:1 photo image. If you haven’t tried it, it’s definitely worth it!

Camera+

This is my go-to app for most of my photography on my phone. I have the power to set my exposure while seeing my ISO settings. I can adjust for the lighting in the room and I love that! I take much better photos because of the power of this app.

DayOne

With DayOne app, journaling is quick and easy. I need reminders and DayOne’s best feature allows you to set notifications to prompt you for journaling. Personally, mine is set for every 3 hours daily to remind me to take 2-3 minutes to snap a photo and journal a moment in time I don’t want to forget. When I’m ready to scrapbook, I can email myself the entries or look at them from my phone and what photo I referenced.

App Store

Xphoto editor

As a designer, I love Photoshop. XPhoto is comparable in that it also works with layers. I take my favorite overlays and save them to my camera roll to use with my photos. I can quickly create completed photos ready to add to any layout or project. I have a tutorial on my blog on how to save overlays to your phone and apply them to your photos.

App Store

Camera Studio+

This is my next favorite camera app. It has a 6x digital zoom, providing great clear photos with an option to set your resolution and over 240 filters/effects. I can quickly open the app, grab my photo and add the text with one of over 50 fonts. I can also share by Email, Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

App Store

Bump

Bump is the best app ever! If my daughter takes a photo that I need, she can bump my phone and I have the photo instantly on my phone. Bump has recently added the technology for you to bump to your computer. This app is one of the main reasons I now can get my scrapbooking projects completed faster. I use my iPhone or iPad to work on projects while watching TV or waiting in the carpool line.

I have really enjoyed sharing with you my favorite apps for faster scrapbooking. What’s your favorite memory keeping app?

Thank you for this article, I had no idea there was that many helpful apps. But I have to ask…. do people really scrap on their phone? Or are these used mainly for tablets? TY
