What is one way you simplify scrapbooking?

One of my favorite ways to simplify is to scrapbook with a grid. It is easy because you can find grids everywhere. A grid can be any shape – not only squares. Triangles or circles could easily be used as a grid. The great thing is that every project made with a grid has the potential to be different depending on the papers and embellishments to use.

What problem does it solve for you?

This way of scrapping is great for when you just don’t have enough time for scrapbooking but you feel like you want to make something. Or even if you can’t seem to find the inspiration you need to design a scrapbook page.  A grid is a nice way to solve those problems since the design is so quick and easy. Grids are also great for situations where you have more than one photo and don’t know which choose since you can use numerous photos when creating within a grid.

Why do you think it works so well?

It works well because it’s a very simple method! Grids are really fast to make – just put your photos in a grid design and add strips of paper and embellishments. The great thing is that anything and everything will work with a grid design- bold or simple embellishments as well as patterned and solid papers.

How can others get started with it?

The first step is to choose your photos which can help you determine the best grid for your page.  I’ve found it best to start with  3 or 4 smaller photos. Decide on your grid – a rectangle, square, or triangle. Once you have a grid, begin to arrange your photos. Once your photos are down, add strips of patterned paper around and/or between photos to shape your grid. At the end, add embellishments to make everything come together nicely. You will be surprised how fast and easy it is to make a layout using a grid!
