This is a guest post from Simple Scrapper design team member Jean Manis.
Over the past several months, I’ve noticed more and more nature-themed scrapbook products and layouts in the blogs, online shops, and galleries I peruse. I got a confirmation of my impressions from a friend who works at my LSS. As one of the store’s buyers, she saw a number of scrapbooking products featuring camping and the outdoors on the floor at 2011 Winter CHA.
Located in the Pacific Northwest, the LSS has always had an display area with a mish-mash of products for fishing and camping layouts. But this surge of products feels different. Suddenly “faux bois†is rolling off my tongue with regularity. Of course, like all trends, the products didn’t just sprout up overnight. We were seeing owls and other nature-themed scrapping products last year.
Energized by the possibilities, I have been scanning my pre-digital photos of a camping trip to San Juan Island and hiking trips to Mount Rainier. There’s a wide variety of colorful, fun, nature-themed products available in both digital and paper format ready for your stories around the campfire toasting s’mores!

Tip for Scrapbooking the Outdoors
Layouts about camping and outdoor recreation should convey fun and adventure. Allow yourself to play with the papers and elements to tell and illustrate your story.
Do you scrap your outdoor adventures?
Nice post. I’ve seen more outdoors product at my LSS as well and really love it! Delightful layout and project examples. Thanks for sharing!
Great post. I do scrap my outdoor stuff and love the kits that Chelle’s Creations has out as well. A mixture of real elements and felt stuff — super cute!
I appreciate your efforts 🙂
