I‘ve been reading through all the challenges and needs you shared last week. One issue in particular was mentioned over and over: time. There isn’t enough of it. You want more of it. You need to find more of it. To many, more time would equal more scrapbooking.
Then this morning I realized something important. We all have the same 24 hours. Yes, there are many things we can do to be more efficient, more productive, to prioritize and make do. But those don’t buy you more time. Heck, too much of that can even wear you out, leaving you without much desire to use that ‘extra’ time.
You see, last night I did something I probably shouldn’t have. It wasn’t on my to-do list and I let a lot of need-to-do’s slide. Heck, I didn’t even have supper until 11pm. What did I do? I put together our holiday photo card. I dropped everything and just went for it. It’s done now and I just need to send it off for printing.
Why is this relevant? What I realized this morning is that you can’t buy yourself more time, but you can steal it. Like yours, my list is a mile long and not getting any shorter. There is always another load of laundry to do or another bottle to wash.
Those memories, however, don’t stick around forever. The pages and projects you want and need to get done – to tell your story and share it with friends and family – sometimes those really can’t wait.
While I don’t recommend all-out neglect of your responsibilities, this time of year in particular definitely calls for stealing time where you can to document your memories. You have my permission.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. First order of business is stealing back the time that Twitter requires! Lol.
Ah precious time. I’ve been trying the 15 minute block this week & it seems to work. I look at my watch, scrap for 15 & then move on to something else. But you’re right – there’s always dishes to wash, clothes to fold, etc. I love the ‘just do it’ routine!!!!
