Weekly Recap
This week had some highs and lows. (Don’t they all!) One of the best parts was settling into my new office. I’ve been making up for lost time (and lack of space) by creating up a storm. I feel so inspired having my computer workspace and creative supplies co-located. I counted seven different projects in just a week!
Project #1: Patterned paper quilt block created for the Premium Membership. So glad to finally have my sewing machine out and ready to go!
Project #2: My grandfather’s chain, St. Christopher medal and their wedding rings draped over his memorial flag. I’ve been meaning to do this.
Project #3: New DIY curtains for the office. Rods/clips are from Target, fabric is Premier Prints Chipper Slub Corn Yellow.
Project #4: Super simple wall-hanging – fabric stapled to a 20×24 canvas. Fabric is Anchors Away Diamond Ikat Orange.
Project #5: Five new limited edition mini book kits will be available soon!
Project #6: Sometimes you just have to make something. So I did.
Project #7: A Pinterest-inspired functional piece of wall decor. You’ll be able to see more details of how I created this on the Ella Publishing blog in July.
And now for the big reveal, here’s the before and after shots of my new office space. My stepson has a new palatial pad in the basement, so we took over his former room for the office.
I created a double desk (so that my husband can work in here too) by simply putting two non-matching desks back to back. We got lucky they were almost the same length and height.
Here’s the new office from other viewpoints:
The easily-hidden open storage closet. Most of my non-scrapbooking craft supplies had been in the basement for years. I did a ton of decluttering and this is all that remains. Most of the left half of the closet is more office-type supplies, like computer software and extra envelopes.
The full view of the creative workspace side of the room. It’s not a large room but it is 100% functional. My paper scrapbook supplies live in those white drawer bins. Most of the action happens on the drafting table on the left. With the playpen in here, I can work and be mom at the same time!

Thanks for sharing your space. I’m just venturing into paper!-I know its soo backwards, but I’ve been all digi. I fell into scrapping by accident. I took an online class in photography and the forums were full of scrapping talk–anyway– What I loved was seeing your space and that it wasn’t full on. It looks possible to have a play room for myself, in a reasonable amount of space and NOT overdone with stuff! Thanks for the inspiration.
I started with digital as well. It is definitely possible to keep it to the basics, where you can enjoy fun products but not be drowning in them!
