The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfillment. – Earl Nightingale

We all get stuck in a rut of negative thinking, from time to time. We may not even realize it, but it certainly manifests in our enthusiasm and sense of purpose. We feel lost without a map to find the way. The art and practice of scrapbooking is certainly not immune to this challenge.

Fortunately, changing your perspective and defeating negative thinking is within reach. You can find meaning and passion through a simple mental exercise.

How to Move Your Mind

The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. – Mitch Albom

One of the key ways I maintain high energy for scrapbooking is through consistent, positive self-talk. You don’t have to actually talk to yourself, rather you need to be mindful of your reactions. Here are 6 examples of shifts you can make to move you from mojo-weary to passionately pumped:

Anti-Mojo Thinking: I will never be like…
Passionate Thinking: I celebrate my unique awesomeness.

Anti-Mojo Thinking: My life is not very interesting.
Passionate Thinking: I find wonder in the everyday.

Anti-Mojo Thinking: I don’t know where to begin.
Passionate Thinking: I turn inward for inspiration.

Anti-Mojo Thinking: I will never catch up.
Passionate Thinking: I cherish the unfolding stories of my life.

Anti-Mojo Thinking: I just don’t have enough time.
Passionate Thinking: I can always find 15 minutes.

Anti-Mojo Thinking: I feel guilty taking the time.
Passionate Thinking: I nurture my soul with scrapbooking.

When work, commitment, and pleasure all become one and you reach that deep well where passion lives, nothing is impossible.

Try on just one of these mindset shifts… and then try another. Create your own and commit to being mindful. Change happens within and you can do it! Share you experience in the comments.
