This week I’m sending you to an exclusive Simple Scrapper day camp. All week long I’m offering fun little exercises to help simplify your scrapbooking and keep your creative spirits soaring!
Day 2: Pot Holders
As little girls, we all loved to play with those stretchy bands, making pot holders and not-very-useful long chains. We learned skills of patience and weaving, filling up our idle time with this fun craft.
Today I want to encourage you to go create for the fun of it. Dig out the water colors and paint. Scrapbook a page using just one photo and (oh-the-horror) absolutely no journaling. Cut up some construction paper and glue it back down. Use glitter.
Not every project has to fit into a precise routine of memory keeping. Sometimes we need to make and do to practical skills and replenish our creative stores.
My creative spirit went in another direction today instead of scrapbooking. I have a large flat rock that was on the groundsd of my husband’s family’s hotel from back in the ’30’s. I painted a scene on it from looking at pictures of the old hotel. It came out pretty good. I signed and dated it. I’m waiting for it to dry so I can spray some finish on it to protect it. Now, what to do with it? It’s quite heavy and can’t be hung or put on one of those easels. I have no garden to put it in. Don’t want to use it as a doorstop! Any ideas anyone?
What an imaginative idea, Becky! I would love to see a photo! How about some clear (waterproof) shellac so that it might be leaned against a tree or the side of your garage or storage shed? I am sure that he would love to enjoy the rock in your yard or patio!
